Greetings Claudie/friends:

Happy Saturday! 28 degrees this morning.

I have the men's basketball game at 2:00p.m. but am on stand-by to also call the women's game at noon if the P.A. Announcer for them doesn't get back in time from his travel. (I think he had to put is mother in hospice in Iowa). Anyway we'll be ready one way or the other but this will likely affect my time ability to walk. The men are doing well; they are now 14-7 overall and 7-3in the Sun Belt Conference. Several fans are "fussing" that they are not undefeated in the conference, (they were at the end of regular season last night) but it's best not to peak too early. They are 2d in the conference right now (Georgia Southern is currently first but is struggling and they haven't yet played the Georgia State). The Panthers have lost two games to conference foes they should have won; but that's life!

It's been a busy week with a number of activities too numerous to count. I'm glad it's the weekend!

Although today has a few items in it, it will not be nearly as busy as the last 72 hours.

Off to continue the day.

Have a great day all!

Good morning, Claudie. I was listening to an ESPN show as they were calling the Hawks a feel good story and a cute team but that is all, they said that they were going to lose last night (we won) and they had no chance of making the finals (we will see). Go Hawks (best record)!

Good morning, Mrs. Wrench, wemiller, WKGaser, grmoore, Robustus, TC, MidnightSun, yankie, keywest, and senile!

Mrs. Wrench, this May, I will have been retired 10 years. <shakes head> Doesn't seem like that long, though. Have a great time going to the yard sales! Hope you find some good deals.

grmoore, good deal on your new car. Hope the GSU guys win today. BTW, what's their record now? What is their standing in their conference?

Robustus, glad to hear you will be able to go to church on Sunday; I know you've been upset when you can't go.

MidnightSun, good that you were able to walk the 2 miles yesterday. Hopefully you'll be able to get out soon and do that some more.

wemiller, WKGaser, TC, yankie, keywest, and senile, thanks for stopping in!

Staying home today. :)

Good morning Claudie!

Snow still falls. 4-9" is expected. No biggie.

My final thoughts on Francis Ford Coppola's "Apocalypse Now" movie. It is not a war story on who won or lost, who did what, or who the good and bad guys are. It is a story about man. All kinds of men, of all races, during the most intense decade in history.

If one has not seen it, it should be watched. If seen, it should be seen again. "Apocalypse Now" is on the Top 10 Best Movies of all time. It is a 2 hour 33 min journey into the year 1968, the height of the war in Vietnam.

On streaming Netflix until today. Have owned it for many years. It is always on putlocker.com for free.

Went out for a walk up the mtn road late afternoon. It was so pleasant... and so warm for a rare change w/temps in the high 20's (-2C). Watched the snow slowly drip to the ground.

The trees, fences, and houses look fantastic blanketed w/pure white snow. The crows were happy, screeching into the sky with their "caw caw" sounds. Traveled just over 1 mile, a little further than the summer cottage w/its porch that was my shelter in a pouring rain storm some 2.5 y/a.

Noticed a chalet style 2 bedroom cape on just over 2 acres of land high in the mtn was for sale for a mere $50,000. Thoughts of the husband passing away filled my mind. It was time to return home. 2 miles and a few 100' of elevation gain.

My right quad Has had some tightness for two months that is stubborn and will not go away. Sat in my new exec chair and watched the snow w/larger flakes fall much faster during the mid afternoon. Forecast is for 8-10 inches of new beauty. The deep cold is to return overnight well into next week.

The temp is 5° (-15°C), the high. Light snow continues to fall. Will need to clear the snow if over 4".

Civil twilight is 6:35 AM EST. Night is 5:24 PM.

Sunrise: 7:06 AM. Set: 4:53 PM.

Length of day: 9h 47m. Length of visible light: 10h 49m. Tomorrow will be 2m 31s longer.

Have a tremendous day!

Hi Claudie,

Had quite an evening today. I explained it in the Cafe and didn't feel comfortable re posting it here right now.

Some rather good news besides that. I still have to work Sunday. However, they got me going in Sunday evening instead. I know the Super Bowl is this Sunday, but I don't really care about it this year. The main thing I'm happy is that I will make it to church in the morning. Still I rather have the full day off, but I'll work with them as they can work with me. The hours are just a hour less than what I've been getting. It could be worse. No complaints.

I'll be working all weekend now. I'll be working 10-4 tomorrow and then Sunday and Monday evenings. I feel Sunday will probably be swamped the first couple of hours and then go "dead" once the game starts. So probably an easy evening.

I wound up not walking today because I arrived home too late and I was beat...

I will try to walk tomorrow morning before I drop off my sunglasses for the lens replacement and depart for the men's basketball game tomorrow afternoon.

re: new car - I traded the 14 year old truck for a 2015 Honda CR-V EX-L. We got a good deal. The truck was going to need an engine replacement at a $8600 price tag. I would likely only get $2,000 for it (on a good day) so we decided to pursue replacing it earlier rather than later.

Hi again Claudie, forgot to mention that I'm retired 21 years the month. It was January 1994, I worked in a very busy grocery store at the shore as a cashier for 22 years. I was part time so I don't get any big pension but that's OK because we've enjoy ourselves traveling.

Good evening Claudie, good to hear that your Mom's test were OK,I'm sure you were glad also.

It was 73 degrees here today, 57 now. Wrench helped our friend move a guys trailer to another RV park about 8 miles south of here, while he was gone I cleaned all the windows on the inside of the van & did some hand wash & hung it out. After lunch of BLT we took a little nap, tomorrow one of the parks south of us is having a park wide yard sale so we will go to that & a few others in that area than out for some lunch. when we get back we have to go to Walgreens & WM for a few things.

Claudie, you go to the page where you sign in to see the information about how many points you've earned, etc. Across the top of the page there are a lot of choices. One of them is promotions and under promotions it says coupons.
When you click on that the first one is the free one. Currently it is for FREE South Beach Diet Snack Bars. Not that I want them, but 5 bars for free is a good deal and someone around here can probably eat them.
I decided to search thru the rest of the coupons, but only made it to page 8 and my computer froze. I tried again this afternoon and once again my computer froze.

Note that I said she was willing to move the points to Feb., but tomorrow is the last day of January so she didn't have to since I plan to drive south tomorrow, our last dry day for awhile, and buy the gas.

Yea for your mom's results.

Yay!

I got a phone call about Mom's protimes/INR, and it's in the acceptable range! Stay on the same dosage and go back in a month!

Still haven't heard from the kidney doc's office, so it looks like I'll be calling them Monday morning. :(

Good afternoon, TUrtLE, dickc49, and attitash!

TUrtLE, cool that Tracy's going to let your 600 points go over for February! :) As for the coupon on the web site, what's it for? I went to the Kroger web page and didn't see anything like that, but then I didn't know what I was looking for either. You normally get it in an email? Have no idea what this is; I don't get emails from Kroger. BTW, are you still doing the surveys to get more points or did you stop?

dick, have you gotten much more snow now? Have a safe trip to Maine and then back again on Sunday!

attitash, work is steady? Hmmmm, is that good or bad?

Good afternoon Claudie...bright sunny day with a high of -12°C/10.4°F feeling like -21°C/-5.8°F with the wind chill. Recived about 10cm/4" of light fluffy snow yesterday. Work is steady. Have a super day.

Good afternoon Claudie,

The deck is done. Took me three trips out to finish it. A fourth trip was made to shovel the hydrant across the street. We are now getting an inch or two. Will push it off the drive quickly later. Can also scrape the stairs quickly afterward. Will leave for Maine after 5PM or so and hope to get there after about 4 hours. Will stop somewhere for a quick dinner. Its the youngest daughters birthday, so we will pick up marinated steak tips from out favorite meat store on the way north to cook on the BBQ up there. Her birthday wish. Have a volunteer day on Sunday. Hope to get done a bit early so I can get back home in time for the kickoff. More snow Monday and Wednesday. The Monday one, so far, does not look too bad. The Wednesday one they are not predicting amounts yet.

Hi again Claudie,

i talked with the most helpful person, Tracy, at Kroger Customer Service this morning. I phoned as I wanted to verify that my 600 points are good on the last day of the month since I'm planning to go south in the morning to buy gas at a real Fred Meyers, not Shell. Yes, they are, but she also volunteered to carry them over another month so I wouldn't feel under pressure to go tomorrow. I thanked her, but I am still going.
She also told me that since it's Friday if I log in there will be a free coupon available. I used to get the link in an email from them, but this is not the same. You go to Fred's web site. I don't know if Kroger for you would be the same or not.

Hi, Claudie & friends:
I saw Dr. Zeman yesterday; Unfortunately, my Dr. recommended an MRI to see if there is a tear in the meniscus. SO.. I am waiting for insurance to approve the MRI.

Then, I wait for results of the MRI. If I need to have surgery, I will.

I have great confidence in this orthopedic surgeon; He's a friend of my foot Dr., and did my hubby's shoulder surgery 11 months ago.
My hubby is doing very well w/his shoulder, as he took time for rehabilitation (PT) with the shoulder. He also took 8 wk. from work, even though the company wanted him to come back sooner.

From my friend who recently had knee surgery, no biggie, just TCOB.
However, I've never had surgery since a pin placed in my rt foot 12 years ago.

Hubby & I are going to Las Vegas (Did not know it was SuperBowl weekend when I booked the stay) at our Timeshare! It will be fun to get away, but much busier than usual. Luckily, there Is little pain w/my injury, just swelling. I will need to be cautious (no walking up/down strip). Where the timeshare is located, everything is fairly close, shopping, restaurants, and of course, the casino. :) I had wanted to go to the outlet mall, but this can wait!

grmoore, good going to the GSU guys on their win against UTA last night; bad news for the women, though. Bundle up when you do your walk tonight; it's windy!

Greetings Claudie/friends:

Happy Friday! 40 degrees this morning. In early this morning as I have to depart in a few minutes for a day of busy times.

Yesterday was another busy one with issues to solve that went well into the evening. I worked to almost 10:00p last night stopping only a few mins to eat. Fun times!

The GSU Men's basketball won 88-74 last night; women dropped another one.

Off to start the day.

Have a great day all!

Good morning, Claudie. I see that the Hawks own the best record in basketball, they are 1/2 game up on Golden State, though the GS is percentage points ahead. I am hoping that they can keep it going.

Good morning Claudie!

Going to have nice all over again. More snow is on the way. Should be light abd easy to clear.

Temp dropped to 22° below zero (-30°C) yesterday morning. This in spite of all the weather sites saying the low was to be -5° (-20°C). Made it to a high of 24° (4°C). A nice relief from the deepest freeze.

Winter Storm Warning in effect from 1 am Friday to 6 am EST Saturday. A snow event of 9-15 inches (22 -38 cm) is forecast to arrive.

Then the below zero temps (-18° to -30°C) returns for Sat - Wednesday mornings.

Took the drive to Littleton after warming up the car for 15 minutes yesterday morning. Bought just a few items at the produce mkt. Was the only one there when it opened.

Bought green beans at a wonderful price of $1.14 a lb, cantaloupe for $2.50, cukes for 60¢ ea, and Brussels spouts, 2.68 a lb.

Big Papa's Market. Click on "See more" for some of their Great lower than the supermarket prices. Have lots of produce in stock from the week before.

Drove to Lowe's for another 5 gallon can of K-1 kero for $44 ea. My 6th of the heating season. Will see below zero temps for the next 5 mornings. Also want a 5 gal can in stock in case the power goes off so the propane stove pilots do not have to be lit and on continuously.

Visited the Mac's Mkt in Whitefield. Wanted to buy more of their fab turkey breast on sale for $3.99 a lb. Also scooped up a pkg of 3 cooked chicken breasts for a low $1.49 a lb. Also good for sammies, meals, or for chicken noodles soup.

Stopped at the Lanc PD for the accident report of the hit and run on my car in front of the P.O.when it was parked. Rec'd the name and insur policy # of the lady who backed into my front bumper. Heard and saw her up against it.

The investigating officer made a mistake and put 1/1/15 as the date of the occurrence when the hit and run happened on the Sat the 24th. He was not on duty. Gave the officer my Insur # and such later in a telephone call.

Visited a local auto body shop for another estimate. Sadly the fellow who gives estimates stepped out for an hour. Will return in a day or two when the corrected police report is picked up.

The temp is 26° (-9°C). The temp will be 30° (-9°C).

Civil twilight is 6:37 AM EST. Night is 5:22 PM.

Sunrise: 7:08 AM. Set: 4:50 PM.

Length of day: 9h 45m. Length of visible light: 10h 47m. Tomorrow will be 2m 29s longer.

Have a delightful day!

Good morning Claudie

Glad you liked the pictures. Robin has been overly busy with games every night so I've been waiting for her shots to show up over at fb as well. The ones Mom took last night aren't bad either.

Time for Dino's Jukebox and for this wild card week we'll feed off of last week's "Back To The Future" theme and go back thirty years. From 1985 that is.

The year was 1955. Big stories from that year include Disneyland Amusement park opens in Anaheim, California. Rosa Parks jump started the Civil Rights movement, and Ray Kroc started the hamburger franchise known around the world now as McDonald's. A brand new black and white TV sold for $99.95 which you could put in your brand new house that cost just under $11,000. Minimum Wage was $1.00 an hour, and a gallon of gas cost 23 cents.

This song would be the #2 song of 1955. One year later, Billboard magazine would start their standard top 100 list for the top songs of the year. A standard that still holds up today. If you get a chance, be sure to take a gander at the video with this one. See you Sunday, buddies.

Good evening, Claudie! I wasn't too upset about being sent home early since I had a headache. I enjoyed going straight home and falling asleep! Nice that your heart is in great shape.

As for the past several days, I’ve been super busy with work and school. Mom has been working as well. She has 5 days this week! Several visits with Grandma have also been made. Let’s just say she is stocked up on treats!

Today I worked 8 am - 4 pm, on U-Scan and in grocery. Mom worked 11 am - 6 pm, bagging at Al’s Karwick. After work, I met up with Jan, Tim, and Jeff at Denny’s. Our dinner night was on location this time around! Great food and it was wonderful to laugh and share stories with them.

Now back to homework!

Good night!

Hiya, Robustus!

Going today to your dad's house? Hope you do so the kitty can have some food.

I understand what you mean when you say it's been a nice drama-free 3 weeks. :)

Good evening Claudie,

So far still no word about my dad's dismissal. I assumed it was either today or yesterday since I counted 20 days since he arrived at that facility. However, I have not been to his house in a couple days to check on the cat. I'll probably go over soon for that. So there's a chance my dad could have been transported home without my knowledge. However, I find that strange since he usually tries to tell me when he's going home. Unfortunately, his home phone which is a cordless one was tossed somewhere when the paramedics got him. So, there's no way to get in touch with him unless I call the facility. But, I'll let it go another day if he's not there. I hate to say it but I really don't want him to come home. I've been enjoying these drama-free days without him!

As for Mom, I haven't been over to visit with her since that full day Sunday. She's been able to call me so it's not too bad. She knows that I'm regretfully anticipating my dad's dismissal. However, she sounded like they found a replacement roommate for her and Mom's not too happy. Unfortunately, she doesn't have choice, but if she did she would like to wait a little bit. It takes Mom a long time to grieve. So, I'll probably get over there after work tomorrow unless something occurs otherwise.

Oh, goodness gracious!

I got a phone call from the gal I saw when I went for my initial medical appointment about 3 weeks ago (she's a nurse practitioner)! She called b/c she said she got a message that I wanted to know the results of my stress test. Holy moley! I didn't know she was going to CALL!

Anyway, I don't know exactly what she was reading to me...if it was the cardiologist's actual report to her or the one I'm getting in the mail, but it was in a lotta medical terms; so she'd read something to me and then explain it. <shakes head> Unreal!

According to the 'report,' my heart's in great shape, and there's little chance that I could have/develop a blot clot (well, at the moment, that is). I asked her was there a certain time period to have another one done, and she said that since the cardiologist didn't say anything about another one, that I didn't need another one unless I started to have chest problems or whatever. She said if that ever happened, call right up and she'd order another one.

<grins hugely (is that even a word?)>

Fantastic...report AND the fact that the NP called me!

Good afternoon, pink and FULL OF FUN!

pink, I usually like doing the genealogy thing, but I haven't really had the time lately to work on it. Maybe some day soon.

FULL OF FUN, aaahhh! Lil H is so young! Maybe she'll sleep longer tonight and give her parents a break. :)

A short break here before I get lunch together for hubby and me.

I got all the latest family info I had into my computer files and it's saved on a disk. I still need to get some info from my niece, though (she's the one who got married in December).

I think I have all the pictures (that were already on the computer) into their right folder and labeled. I'll go back and check, though, before I save them all onto the external hard drive. Then I'll be done with what I wanted to get done today. :)

Hello, FULL OF FUN and Farful!

FULL OF FUN, great that Lil H slept 4 straight hours on Tuesday night; I know her parents appreciated that. Tell me, b/c I don't think I know/remember, how old is she? As for Lil C, hope she's better today. A lot of snow predicted for you now? Take care then.

Farful, the lady I talked to on the phone from the insurance company said the stress test results were alright also; she had to look it up on the computer. As for your bus trip yesterday...whew! Thank goodness the bus driver was able to get the bus over to the side lane! Glad you made it home alright.
