Hi Claudie, stopping by to say hello.Hope all is going well with you.Do you have any plans for the holiday week end?

We don't have any plans, guess we would have had D & SIL over for a cook out but Wrench said our neighbors were going to have us over there but not sure what day that will be. I haven't posted anything to you lately, I've just been posting prices & answering questions. Have been very tired & trying to get some things done before I go for m,y surgery. I want to get a couple different soup made so I don't eat to heavy when I come home plus Wrench won't have to worry about making anything top big.

This Sunday we will start back on the beach for our service. That will be at 8 am than they have a service at 9 in the church.

Hope you have a good holiday week end, the traffic is starting to be heavy with people coming to the shore for the holiday.

Hiya, Scanman and sandipaws!

Scanman, looks like M. wants to do everything his way, and then, if it doesn't work out, he wants you to 'fix' it. <shakes head> Since he thinks he's a 'grown-up, he just needs to figure it out himself. I guess.

sandipaws, nice that you have the next 2 days off. Yay! :)

Time for me to sign out for the night.

Good night, everybuddy!

Claudie...

Probably NOT! (learnin' lesson) he certainly called me up pretty quickly and told me about it and wanted to know if I could do anything...SMH..It wasn't his fault...He asked someone which gate he was to go to and they told HIM the wrong one...He said she couldn't speak English well enough for him to understand! I asked him why he didn't check a flight schedule for boarding gates when deplaned...He said he didn't think he needed to if he went to an AA agent and asked....KIDS!

ALWAYS...ALWAYS..Have a contingency plan!

Good evening Claudie!

Dad's car is somewhat fixed now. They had it ready when I got off work yesterday. So, I was over at Walmart when Dad called me. Found out it was a broken wire that went to this electronic ignition system my dad put on it. So, they decided to go back to the original distributor and points. (Hopefully some of y'all are old enough to know what I'm talking about.) Anyway, the broken wire was causing a short. However, we do not know if it is related to the alternator problem I mentioned in a previous post. But, hopefully, that will get my dad feeling better to get out and more independent. By the way, it cost $209.90 for the repair which included towing to the garage from where he broke down at.

Good afternoon, kathybye, Scanman, and dilbert3333!

kathybye, glad to hear the PT is helping your knee; so you only have 1 more PT session, and that's it? Or that's it until you return from LA? So your friend has started cleaning your parents' house? Hope that task gets taken care of soon. Do you expect to put the house on the market when you're there? Have a good trip to the nail salon!

Scanman, oh, my goodness! "Poor" M! (NOT!) Maybe he'll learn, right? (NOT!)

dilbert, ooohhh, I know you're happy to not be flying home from Chicago! You lucked out, didn't you? :)

Howdy, Claudie & Friends:

I went to PT this am, and my knee is getting much stronger. I've advanced to maintaining balance (which I can definitely use). I'll continue going 1xwk. until after my trip to Lousiana. Speaking of my trip, the realtor got my phone # from a friend who has gone into parent's home, and begun cleaning. Large task ahead. However, the realtor cannot find the key we gave her.

I'm sending a key 3 day air, and asking her to make copies, and to bring us a key prior to us getting to LA on 6/13. Both my sis & I are flying, and will be exhausted.

Going to get nails done today, and toe polish change. Life is Good!

Hope your day goes well!

Okay, so I ended up going out somewhere after all, but it wasn't until about lunch time.

Hubby finished doing whatever 'work' he was doing out and about and said he was going to the to get some 'corn' for the deer feeder; I decided to go, too. They've sure got some interesting stuff there. :)

I DID get a whole bunch of stuff done this morning, too.

Hello, TUrtLE, munchkins_mom, fliper, dilbert3333, org, attitash, Farful, dickc49, and scanman!

TUrtLE, glad I could be helpful to your relatives. :)

munchkins_mom, nice that you can have all that time off, even (maybe) after you get back from the Cape. Special plans for Memorial Day? Not really, though, hubby and I might go to Daughter's house for a short time (she lives about 10 miles south of us).

fliper, I AM enjoying my day off from errands!

dilbert, cool that you can work from home today. Don't have to fight the holiday traffic coming home from work this afternoon.

org, thanks for today's bit of history.

attitash, frost warnings? Wow! I would have thought that time would be over with. Hmmmm, which grows faster? Of course, I know the answer tot hat is the WEEDS!!

Farful, nice that you're having warm and sunny weather today, too. :)

dick, the way I'm looking at it, I'm just glad (for you) that you can get the things done! I know you're back is giving you lots of trouble. :( have a safe trip to Maine!

Scanman, well, how nice that M. finally made it to Florida! :)

Good morning Claudie,

It might sound like a lot, but its much less than I could get done a few years ago. I can only do so much then take a break. Just 2-3 years ago I could weed the whole garden without too much issue, then turn around and plant it right after. Now its a three day affair. I am going to go out in a bit and see if I can get the rest of the front finished.

We were going to stay home this weekend, but my wife decided yesterday that she wants to go to Maine today! I do not like the short notice, but its her birthday Monday, so I will stifle squawking and go. Was hoping to substantially finish my yard work this weekend while we have no grand kids under foot. Oh well.

I will have some flowers I normally plant out back left in their flats, so I will have to set up a tray with water and the flats in it so they stay wet over the weekend. Oldest son (handicapped one) is staying home, but his memory is spotty, so I cannot rely on him remembering. Will water what is planted WELL before I go.

Good morning Claudie...sunny day ahead with a cool high of 12°C/53.6°F. Frost warnings for overnight...will ensure all my plants are protected. Not sure what grows faster...the plants or the weeds! The pedal home will be warmer than the one to work this morning. Have a great day.

Hi Claudie, we are looking forward to heading north. I'm only working as needed now so they think they'll let me go and when I get back (after Labor Day) determine how we'll proceed. We've been talking about my filling in for other doctors in the practice and then working as needed. Do you have holiday weekend plans?

Good morning, JCTRAIL, WKGaser, MidnightSun, senile, HouHrl, hcmsretired07, JM, scout, TUrtLE, and grmoore!

MidnightSun, you had a good hike yesterday; I know that made you happy. :) I bet the mail lady's happy, too, to have the P.O. furnish her a vehicle now; saves wear and tear on her own car.

JM, watching for your wave! Have a safe trip!

scout, thanks for the Friday music. :)

TUrtLE, what I do to save turtles (around here)....if I see them in the middle of the road or somewhere like that, I'll stop (if I can), pick them up and put them on the side of the road. :)

grmoore, glad you made it safely to your destination. Here, the temp's about 50°; quite a difference from earlier this week, but it's nice.

JCTRAIL, WKGaser, senile, HouHrl, and hcmsretired07, thanks for stopping in!

Aaaaah, staying home today!

Greetings Claudie/friends:

Happy Friday! 39 degrees in Grantsville, MD this morning.

We made it safely to Pittsburgh and then on to Maryland yesterday afternoon. It rained most of the day and is foggy in the mountain areas.

We were able to meet up with my wife's cousins and and their family yesterday evening. We had dinner in a wonderful Italian restaurant in Frostburg, MD not far from their mother's (Carol's aunt) homestead.

The funeral will be this morning at 10:00am followed by a traditional meal in Accident, MD.

We return to GA on Saturday evening and have Monday off so it will be a good recuperation opportunity after a busy few days.

Off to start the day.

Have a great day all!

Good Morning Claudie,
Very good that yesterday morning went so well for you.

Tomorrow, Saturday is World Turtle Day.

The World Turtle Day 2015 is on May, 23. The purpose of the observance is to bring attention to, and increase knowledge of and respect for, turtles and tortoises, and encourage human action to help them survive and thrive.

You can do a few small things that can help to save turtles and tortoises for the next generation. Never buy them from a pet shop as it increases demand from the wild. Never remove turtles or tortoises from the wild unless they are sick or injured. If a tortoise is crossing a busy street, pick it up and send it in the same direction it was going. Report cruelty or illegal sales of turtles and tortoises to your local animal control shelter.

Reminder

Enjoy a TUrtLEific Friday and Saturday!

Good morning Claudie!

No increase here either. Not even going to mention it.

Watched the temp fall in the very early hours of the start of the day. When it was 32° (down in the valley) a a nine LED light was taken outdoors and a sheet placed over the cut in half metal coat hangers to elevate the sheet from crushing the blooms.

Went out when the valley temp was 28 (-2C) from the drive to Littleton No water was frozen or frost on the lawn. A bit of warm air settled at this much higher elevation than in the CT River Valley.

Enjoyed the cruise down the blvd on the always scenic CT River Hwy. Bought at the market were limes 4/$1, strawberries 1 lb/$2.50, red peppers $1.88/lb, baby spinach 1 lb/$3, avocados 88¢ ea, extra large eggs that expired the day before $1.33 a doz and green leaf lettuce $1.88 a head.

Some of the prices seen during the 2.5 days Big Papa's Mkt is open are found here Click on 'See More.'

Shaw's sold them for $1.49 ea, yet they were half the size. One would need to spend $3 to get as much. Shaw's did still have broccoli crowns on sale for $1 a lb. Filled a bag w/four. Only real deal in the store.

Shopped for no fat cottage cheese, bread and a pkg of turkey hots dogs. Have some wonderful Clausen relish and mustard that need to used. Stopped at Subway to use my points for a free footlong spicy Italian.

The new mgr thought points were good as long as one used their card. Told him the # on the back of the card was called after losing 225 points and was told points are only good for 3 years.

Began to work in the gardens. The sun was socked in the clouds, temp was 45 and the black flies were not just swarming, they were biting. Here is a pix of a baby who got bit and a young girl who has bites on her neck. The bites last for two weeks, sometimes three. They itch like mad, much worse than any mosquito bite ever could.

Grabbed a 1 litre water water and headed up the mtn late morning. The sun come out, the temp began to rise and it felt nice to get in some miles and elevation gain.

Got up a mile and took the right turn onto the fire road that one day may see some homes. (Utilities need to be extended) After several stops for water and rest my back, made it to the height of land.

A few hundred feet off the road is an old clear cut. Here is where there are spectacular views to the west in VT, north w/ endless mtn ranges into Canada, and east which sees Mts Cabot, Hutchkins, the three Weeks peaks and others.

Did you know that butterflies cannot fly if their body temperature is less than 86 degrees. Representations of butterflies are seen in Egyptian frescoes at Thebes, which are 3,500 years old.

At times clouds of dandelion seeds floated by 100's of feet in the air. The the quaking aspen trees swayed, and their leaves shimmered, as they danced to the beat of the gentle breeze.

Remained for a good amount of time. The skies were blue, there were a few puffy white clouds, and the warm sun felt great. A few dragonflies, bumble bees, and victory butterflies flew by.

Then it was time to head back home. In the distance was the new white USPO delivery truck. The mail lady has theis truck to use. Formerly she has to supply her own vehicle to deliver mail. She now has this truck to use and the gov't will pay for its upkeep.

She stopped on the road to talk to me. Had to go to the right side as that was the only window and door that opened. Haven't seen her in over a year to talk. She offered her condolences on my late dog. We chatted for 12-15 minutes then parted ways.

Was tired after returning home. Guesstimate was 1½ miles and 40' of elevation gain. Plopped in my exec chair and enjoyed the comfort while typing this post. Plan to bike soon and also get in more hikes.

The temp is 39° (4°C) in partly cloudy skies, with the high to be 61° (16°C)

Civil twilight is 4:37 AM EST. Night is 8:49 PM.

Sunrise: 5:12 AM. Set: 8:14 PM.

Length of day: 15h 02m. Length of visible light: 16h 11m. Tomorrow will be 1m 54s longer.

Have a delightful day!

Good evening, dickc49, munchkins_mom, attitash, yankie, Farful, and sandipaws!

dick, wow! You got lots of outside work done! Hope your back feels alright after all that. As for the doctor appointment 'out west'.... it's a specialty doctor that hubby needs to see; it's the one the insurance company recommends and gives referrals for, so that's where we go. It's not really that far; well, yes, it is, too. Oh, well, I'd rather travel that little extra distance and not have to pay out-of-pocket for what the procedures cost.

munchkins_mom, yes, I've always heard there were lots and lots of Kennedys.
As for the trip to the Cape, I know you're ready to go there! Are you able to take the entire time off from work?

attitash, yes, once the temps warm up, the plants REALLY start to grow!

yankie, thanks for stopping in!

Farful, oh, yum! Spaghetti! It just might be time for me to get some, too!

sandipaws, yes, this evening HAS been rather relaxing. :)

Time for me to sign out for the night.

Good night, everybuddy!

Good evening Claudie and All!

Claudie, Glad that the appointment turned out well with turning out great. PTL!

Visited another Senior Expo today. It was interesting to learn about things that seniors can do to help themselves. Met friends there and went out to lunch with them. We had spaghetti and soft drinks at a local pizza parlor. Our waitress was a 4th generation owner of the business. She also was caring for her young child while waiting on us.

Enjoy the rest of Thursday!

Hi Claudie, several of our Cape neighbors have drawn media attention from time to time. That concerns me when they enter our property and try to engage the munchkins in chat. We do see Kennedy's from time to time. Through the years we've gotten to know a few. There are so many.

Good afternoon Claudie,

I got out and got to the edging first yesterday. The worst part of that was kneeling down to mix some 2 cycle fuel. My back just does not like to bend over in any way! Once fueled up, the actual edging did not seem to bother me too much. Took out the string trimmer and cleaned up a bit, then the blower to clear off the walks. I got the gardens in front of the house weeded as they never have too many weeds, and go pretty quickly. After letting my back rest for a while, I went out and worked on the side garden out front. I did two shifts on that one and left a small area for today. I have been out this morning, before my wife left to get the grandkids, and finished it as well as started to plant the gladiolus. I still have a few more to plant after lunch, then I can start with the seedling flowers. Those will take some time as I know I am going to do a few flats, and rest. Last thing later is to water the areas really well as it is so dry out. Will use the hose and fan spray head to water the areas.

Why the long drive to the doc for a quick OK? Is this a specialist doc that you just cannot find closer to home, or is this guy just so highly recommended that he is supposed to be worth the drive? Glad you did have a good in and out visit even if it seemed anti-climactic!

It almost seems crazy to have to drive that far (50+ miles each way), only to have the doctor say everything looks great; he'll see us at the next appointment...which isn't scheduled yet b/c our insurance company has to accept the referrals that one of hubby's other doctors sent in. Once those 'go through,' the appointment can be made!

I think we actually got into the office at about 9:15, got called back into the exam room about 9:20, and was outta there by 9:40! I'm not complaining about the time spent in the office; just seems crazy when you consider how long it took to get there (and then go back home).

We got back in our town about an hour ago, so we went somewhere and had lunch.

All done!

Hello, sandipaws, grmoore, kathybye, and Robustus!

sandipaws, the trip went really smoothly. :)

grmoore, so when you go back to work Monday, you'll be unpacking, right? Have a safe flight!

kathybye. yay! 2 more work days next week and then you're done (for a while)! Have a good lunch!

Robustus, hope the weather's not too bad for ya today; like you said, at least you'll be seeing your favorite customers!

Hi Claudie,

Stopping by quickly before I head out to work.

Yes, I am tired from the my messed up sleep habits. But hopefully I can stay up after I get off and go to bed at a reasonable time. (Not taking a nap after I get home.)

The rain came in with a few rumblings of thunder around 3 this morning. Supposed to be a messy day today so work will be "fun." (Speaking sarcastically.) At least, my favorite customers hopefully will be there.

Hi, Claudie & friends:

Yes, the year is almost over. HS Graduationa was last evening.

I turned in most of my paperwork yesterday, and today is the last day for students. I am required to go back 2 more days, so I will be boxing items, as the room for my services may be moving.

I am meeting a contract SLP today for lunch. Although we have not met, I've spoken to her on the phone and email since January. She was hired to fill in for an SLP who had surgery.

Hope your day is the best! Wow, you WERE up early!

Greetings Claudie/friends:

Happy Thursday! 67 degrees this morning.

We fly out later this morning on our way up north. The temperatures are a bit cooler up in the MD area - 34 to 37 degrees at night - wow!

We finished up packing the offices including the disconnection of all technology (my role yesterday in the office to oversee). Movers come this morning to pickup crates and deliver them to the new office located one exit north of our current location. I have staff on site (in both places) to ensure everything goes smoothly.

Off to start the day.

Have a great day all!

Good morning, HouHrl, MidnightSun, JM, org, and senile!

MidnightSun, I hadn't heard about the bird flu, but I had heard that the price of eggs and chicken could (would?) be going up, never knew why until you mentioned it. Haven't seen an increase in eggs...yet.

JM, I was hoping for a better outcome of the game last night. One of their key players, DeMarre Carroll, also was injured toward the end of the game; hope it's not too serious, but it sure didn't look good.

org, yay, Charles Lindbergh!!

HouHrl and senile, thanks for stopping in!

It's a little bit earlier start for me this morning. I am going with hubby to that doctor 'faaaar' to the west of us (in a city called Newnan). Thankfully the appointment's for 9:30, but we still need to leave about 8. That's pretty much it for today, too. :)

On this date, in 1927, Charles Lindbergh became the first person to fly across the Atlantic (from New York to Paris) in his monoplane, The Spirit of St. Louis.

Welcome to Thursday, Claudie!
