Good morning Claudie!

10 days of rain or overcast. A day of sun coming on Wednesday then more rain. At least it is warming up.

The temp was 30° (-1°C) once again yesterday morning. And with white precipitation. Daybreak saw more snow falling. It remains about an inch in depth. Somehow the lawn was snow free, yet the driveway and road had snow accumulate.

Melt water and the vernal springs each had a layer of ice on top. The daylilies and perennials continue to inch up. As do the crocus and daffodils. Checked up on the strawberries. All of them are growing well.

Had several feet of snow to blanket the flowers before the deep freeze set in in Jan and Feb. Our temps were 20 below zero (-29°C) for weeks on end. The winter low temp saw -32° (-35.5°) several mornings.

Took a drive to Shaw's in town to get some Vidalia onions on sale for 79¢ a lb, cod for $4.99 a lb, and sliced baby bella on sale 8 oz for $1.49. Did not drive to Whitefield to shop.

Returned home in a good looking snow storm that offered large chunks of snow flakes and little hwy buildup. Made some homemade thick crunchy tempura shrimp and broccoli along with veggie fried rice for a pleasing lunch.

A few of my fave TV series on Netflix, then it was time to post for the afternoon. The high of the day saw 37°F (3C°). Once again 10°F less that was forecast.

More overcast, rain, or snow in these mtns until Wednesday, where the sun may break through the clouds of the past ten days in a row.

The temp is 35° (2°C) with the high to be 54° (12°C).

Civil twilight is 5:13 AM EST. Night is 8:15 PM.

Sunrise: 5:44 AM. Set: 7:44 PM.

Length of day: 13h 59m. Length of visible light: 15h 01m. Tomorrow will be 2m 46s longer.

Have a splendid day!

Hi Claudie, I'm visiting late tonight. We were watching the Pirates game and I lost track of time. I hope you had a lovely day.

Good evening Claudie...sunny day with a high of 11°C/51.8°F. Made for huge crowds at the Green Wing fishing derby. No reports on how Walter made out. Was a very busy day at work but I did get off on time! Have a good night.

Good evening, Mrs. Wrench, fliper, and SteelPenny!

Mrs. Wrench, enjoy your roast tomorrow! All this talk of food has my mouth watering!

fliper, thanks for stopping in!

SteelPenny, hubby kept turning the TV channel to FOX and just couldn't figure out where the race was! That's when I checked online and found out that it had been postponed. I think he'd rather watch a 1 PM race anyway.

Time for me to sign out for the night.

Good night, everybuddy!

Good evening Claudie, hope your day went well & you did the things you wanted to do.

Sounds like Kathybye & I are planning the same meal. I plan to cook a rump roast tomorrow with mashed potatoes & a veggie & cole slaw. I only buy rump roasts, brown them good than cook on low on top of the stove for a couple hours. May try the crock pot also.

Wrench is busy putting up a new curtain rod in the guest room. I have sheer curtains & just made a valance to go over them on a curved rod. Got new quilt & pillow shames so bought some tan material to match the boarder on quilt & pillow shames & made the valance.

Good afternoon, yankie, Farful, kathybye, and dickc49!

yankie, thanks for stopping in!

Farful, well, I looked at the forecast for next Saturday and it's supposed to be nice. I sure hope so b/c I am also having a family get-together that day.

kathybye, yum! Sounds like a good meal you're planning for your hubby at noontime! What fresh veggies did you get at the farmer's market?

dick, motivation? Well, I have a little, but not much. Did you ever get the weeding started?

Good afternoon Claudie,

Never got enough motivation to get started on that weeding. Really need to today. Got any extra motivation you can send me? Weather is OK at least! Also need to run an errand or two. I'll get there.

Hope it stays just rain for you. Weather says you have a chance at something more severe in your area.

Hi, Claudie & friends:

Yes, I have a turkey slider, piled high with turkey (just like turkey at Thanksgiving). I think I will ask my son to take me to Dillons for Mother's Day if he is here.

They also potato slivers (difficult to explain), but they a portion of the potato (including the outside peel), steam them, and fry them. They were not greasy and really delicious, so I had a few. Just a diet coke (my treat to myself only when eating out).

Home to relax, and today I slept in! Hubby is back in Sunday eve, so I am going to grocery, buying a rump roast, and surprising him with the fixings. He will not be hungry tomorrow eve, so will prepare to have ready Monday at noon in the crockpot.
This is the first roast I've made in more than 3 months, so I am ready for it. I am going to Farmer's market today downtown Phoenix to buy fresh veggies. This is the last one of the season for downtown Phoenix. The outlying Farmer's market's will be open, but I believe this huge market is primarily for the Snow Bird visitors.

Have a great day at home!

Hiya, grmoore!

Our rain started about 6, but I wouldn't say it was like yours; just hard rain, which has been stopped now for a coupla hours. More coming later, 'they' say.

Good deal on the softball team winning the double header yesterday! One more game tomorrow? Hope they can win that one, too....will make it nice for the seniors. :)

Off to get lunch ready/started!

Greetings Claudie/friends:

Happy Saturday! 63 degrees and wet this morning. We had a raucous storm about 5:00 am this morning with rain, and thunder and lightning. Fun times!

I was able to sleep in some after getting up several times due to the storms in our area. I was up at 7:00 am or so to turn off the PCs due to the electrical storm.

It was a great day for softball (and any other outdoor activity) yesterday. The GSU softball team won both games yesterday (rescheduled from today's original schedule) and will resume the three game series tomorrow at noon for senior day.

Nothing much planned for today so we'll actually get a little bit of a weekend.

Off to continue the day.

Have a great day all!

Good morning, Claudie. I just noticed that I did not post on yesterday, not sure why I did not post. It has to be the number of birthdays I celebrated. Well, I will try to watch the Hawks today, not sure that I can make that time or not, no matter if I do or not, I will keep up with the score. Go Hawks!

Claudie - My local lake (Lake Lewisville) has gone up about 14 inches in the past 24 hours and it's a 20,000 acre lake.
The other lake with the restaurant had to keep building a longer and longer walkway (mostly on dry ground) and kept pushing the restaurant further and further out to keep the title of 'largest floating restaurant in Texas'.
Thanks for the FoX race info.

Good morning, hmcsretired07, Dilligaf1220, and Scanman!

hmcsretired, thanks for stopping in!

Dilligaf1220, welcome to Claudie's Place! Come back again sometime and get to know everybuddy!

Scanman, yes! The pine pollen IS a mess when it's washed out! Yuck!

Rain has slowed down for now; don't know if this is it for us or not. 'They' keep talking about 'round 2' coming in mid-afternoon, but I don't know if that'll be for us, so far south of the city. I guess we shall see.

BTW, just checked the rain gauge and there's a little over an inch in it.

Time to get crackin'!!

Good morning, SteelPenny, pink, MidnightSun, senile, and org!

SteelPenny, wow! Hope that lake gets enough water back into it so that the restaurant's walkway is back where it'[s supposed to be (a floating walkway, too?).

pink, yeah, it's always nice (for me) when I can just stay at home. :) Just like today, too!

MidnightSun, sounds like the weather system we had (where we had 8 straight days of off-and-on rain) has made it up to your area.

senile, thanks for stopping in!

org, aaahhh, thanks for the bit of medical history.

Raining. Started a little while ago (about 6) and is coming down pretty steady. It's not supposed to be an all-day affair, though; maybe just until noontime. It's enough, though, that our town's annual 'festival' was cancelled and rescheduled for next Saturday and I am guessing that both Jake and Emma's soccer games will be cancelled, too.

This will be a good day to stay home. :)

Good morning Claudie!

More light snow tonight. It won't stay long. Rain is due tomorrow.

Woke up to the chilly wee hours of the morning yesterday. The temp dropped to 30° (-1°C). Our rain turned to snow. By daybreak there was an inch of snow everywhere. The high for the day was only 33°. Ten degrees less that was forecast.

Went to the weekly and special w/e sales of Shaws, our local supermarket chain owned by and its parent corp Supervalu. Their fiscal year (ended 2/28/15) w/an Annual sales saw $17.7 billion.

How swell Supervalu executives repeatedly use the word “pleased” to describe the company's financial performance. Their retail prices remain the highest of any store. Only go there for the weekly/ w/e loss leader sales.

Got in a fine 90 minute nap, played some StarCraft, a military science fiction real-time strategy video game. Then the idea of driving to Whitefield hit me. Wanted to buy 1 chicken breast at my pal's store, not 5 or 6 that are jammed into Shaw's family packs.

Had a pleasant drive down US Rt 3. The snowscape was truly picturesque. Arrived to discover the internet system by Fairpoint Comm was down in that entire town.

Only cash could be taken as payment. No cc's or debit cards. The ast mgr gave me a story of why they could not take my check for a $2 chicken breast. Had more than needed in the car. Passed on buying anything.

Did get to talk for 20 minutes to my friend the meat mgr. In fact he showed me around the non sales part of the store. He was there when the check was denied by the asst store mgr. Know my pal could read my mind.

Returned home empty handed and pan fired red and yellow bell peppers, yellow onions, the last of the thawed store made Hot Italian sausage and some ⅜" sliced crimini mushrooms.

Added a bit of water to two beaten eggs and began making some fried rice. L:ast added was two cloves of diced garlic. The fried rice came out great. Added a 12 oz can of beef gravy to the contents prepared and had a delicious lunch. Got to save a meal for another time.

Snow is ion the forecast for all day Saturday. Then more rain for two days. We may see some sun on Tuesday. Otherwise we are in another run of rain thru next w/e.

The temp is 30° (-1°C) with the high to be 48° (9°C).

Civil twilight is 5:15 AM EST. Night is 8:14 PM.

Sunrise: 5:46 AM. Set: 7:43 PM.

Length of day: 13h 56m. Length of visible light: 14h 59m. Tomorrow will be 2m 48s longer.

Have a tremendous day!

Claudie - I'm guessing, from watching the news story, that whatever lake it was, is still at least 10 feet low. They were showing a floating restaurant with a walkway over to it and the walk was still going over a lot of dry ground.

kathybye, hope the PT session went well this afternoon and your dinner with your friend was fun. Did you get a snack or have something fried? Maybe a turkey and beef slider?

yankie, get ready for some more rain!

sandipaws, it's supposed to be stormy a good bit, if not all, of tomorrow. Oh, well! I didn't have any plans to go anywhere.

SteelPenny, wow! You sure ARE getting lots of rain! What you're getting tonight/now is supposed to be here tomorrow. As for the BIG lake, how much is it low now? BTW, There's a race on tomorrow night...7:30 EDT on FOX.

Time for me to sign out for the night.

Hi, Claudie:
Up early for post rehab therapy, and stopped to get dry cleaning. Home to put away a few items, & then to a 12:30pm appointment.

Back Home for lunch now. Shower soon and then meeting a friend at our Fav BBQ place about 5pm. There will be Happy hour food (I may take a pass) as trying to get off a few pounds I gained w/my kneed.

But I'll definitely get iced tea, and Maybe a snack. Depends if they have something deep fried, or not. Their turkey and beef sliders are excellent.

Glad the weather is SO beautiful for you! We actually received a little rain today, and the weather cooled a bit for here. But 90 degree temps are coming. I don't mind with low humidity, and the cool nights.

Have a great day!

attitash, wow! Still having cold temps, I see. I know you can't wait 'til they get to the 'normal' range!

Mrs. Wrench, yes, good idea not to hang the wash/clothes out until after all the pollen is done. I was doing the same thing. Washed some sheets today and was finally able to hang the blankets out to just air out. :)

Good afternoon Claudie, to answer your question from yesterday. SIL did bring D over here before he went to work. He thought it best for her to come one more day as long as she was taking pain meds. We all had a nice nap this afternoon than Wrench left to make a return to Lowe's. D will be here until whenever SIL gets done work. Never know when that will be. I did get 3 loads of wash done as I did the bed cloths & towels & work cloths. I would have loved to hung the wash out but Wrench needs to put new lines up but will wait until the pollen is gone.

Sounds like your day went well & that you & your hubby could get a little porch time. I haven't been out at all today, it's been cool today. I wanted to go & get my hair cut & stop at our church store, maybe I'll get that done tomorrow.

Good morning Claudie....a cold high of 5°C/41°F today with a mix of sun & cloud. Normal high should be 13°C/55.4°F. Light morning flurries appear to have stopped. Drove the car to work. Have a great day.

Lunchtime is over!

Then hubby and I had some porch time! Beautiful day outside today...a blue-blue sky and about 70°. Hard to believe that it's supposed to be stormy tomorrow!

Scanman, well, the pollen that's in the air must be almost invisible b/c you cannot see it at all; so when it rains, you can't see it all over the ground. Now the pine pollen, that's a whole different story!

dick, hope you're able to get the garden weeded today. I really need to get into the area where hubby puts the tomato plants; not a lot of weeds, but what's there needs to be GONE!

Good afternoon Claudie,

Yes, rain does wash out the pollen, but the dry after allows Mother Nature to release more. :>( We are having tree pollen here now, mostly that does not bother me too much, The pine pollen does even though its not supposed to according to experts. Pine comes out here about late May.

I have to see if I can concentrate on some yard work today through Sunday. I have a small flower garden to weed out and I need to fertilize the yard. IF I can get that done, I need to start both the lawn mower and snow blower and warm up both so I can change the oil on both. Warm oil carries out the sediments much better. Need to prep the mower, and store the blower! I think I am safe to put the blower away. Any snow we get will melt in hours. I have to start picking this stuff off a little at a time even though I know its going to be uncomfortable. Its GOT to get done.

Hello, Bus Jockey, Farful, and munchkins_mom!

Bus Jockey, same here (rough weather Saturday afternoon). :(

Farful, wow! Lobster every Friday! Cool! As for the pollen, what's still floating around is mostly tree pollen, too, though, the grass stuff is getting in there a little.

munchkins_mom, silly kids! Thinking it's nice and warm out there b/c it's so sunshiny and purty outside! Glad to hear they're smart enough to come back in and get a warm coat.

Hi Claudie, today we're the recipients of a cloudless blue sky, sunshine and temperatures in the 30's once again. The munchkins race out of the house in the morning (for school) and then run back into the house to put their winter coats on. We have about another week of cold and then we hope it warms up a little in the mornings. Enjoy your day.

Good morning Claudie and All!

Claudie, That is good that your pollen season is about over. Our season is still high for tree pollen.

Hope that your weekend is off to a good start.

Rhythm City Casino usually has a large number of selections. Everyone is allowed to have a lobster with their dinner buffet on Fridays. Buffet manager said that they are planning to have cabbage rolls on only Mondays after this month though.

Good morning, senile and sandipaws!

senile, thanks for stopping in!

sandipaws, I certainly WILL enjoy this day at home, though, there's much to do (as usual). I can spread it out over 3 days, though. :)

Greetings Claudie/friends:

Happy Friday! 48 degrees this morning.

We wound up have a "two-fer" last night. We visited with the Georgia State folks for a bit and then met our daughter and her boyfriend (at the same place) for dinner at Gordon Biersch. We had a wonderful time.

I will be leaving early this morning for a 9:00 am meeting and another at 11:00am. I'm off for the afternoon to call a GSU doubleheader against UL-Monroe (moved to today because of forecasted rain tomorrow.

Off to start the day.

Have a great day all!
