Good night/evening Claudie!

Nothing new today. So really nothing to chat about. Same stuff going on with me. Dad's pestering me. Mom's getting bored. So, that's about it.

Hi Claudie, you're already signing off for the night and I'm just checking in. It was a very fruitful day, I checked lots of little chores off on my "To Do" list before going to work at the library. My health has been slowing me down a lot, so it really felt good to get so much done. I'm a happy camper tonight, now I'll go fix something yummy for dinner.

Good afternoon, attitash and Scanman!

attitash, no break for us with the humidity. :( Had a good round of golf this morning, did ya? I guess you got your groove back. :)

Scanman, Lake Lanier is northeast of Atlanta, surrounded by the cities of Gainesville (north), Buford (south, and Cumming (sorta west). Not really near I-75; actually closer to I-85 and I-985.

A good morning out with Mom, though, I am now going to have to go back to WM for her tomorrow since one of her 'scripts wasn't ready. Oh, well.

Hello, dickc49, MusicTeacher, Farful, fliper, and jjdm!

dick, wow! The tree stump/roots grew around the rock? Weird. Hope a new chain doesn't cost too much; hubby had to buy one last Fall and it was a little pricey. :( Hubby has the same problem with his tomato plants and they're in cages, too (plants growing wild!). He usually has to tie those branches to the cage. Looks like you have a lot of work ahead of you with that new genealogy info. Hope you can get it organized soon.

MusicTeacher, it's probably a good thing that you are looking outside of real estate for another job. I don't care what the news is saying; the real estate market has NOT recovered! How well you know, right?

Farful, yikes! The prediction is for you to have triple-digit temps? Hope not, for your sake.

fliper, there's rain in the forecast for the afternoons all week; the chance EVERY day is about 40%, so there's a fair chance of more rain here at my house.

jjdm, yup! Your grandma is just digging into her food (in the picture)! She must have been hungry! Nice that you were able to find that 'missing' $400. I know the managers will be happy to see that. Also glad to see your mom working again today. Hope the rest of her hours stay in tact.

Good morning, Claudie! That sure does sound like a busy week for your Mom!!

Today’s Pictures:
New Fax Machine

Family Lunch Pt. 1

Yesterday I worked 3:30 pm - 11:30 pm, in the office. Overall, it went well. There was $400 missing from the safe, however I think I found it in two of the drawers ($200 was not loaned out for each). Today Mom works 9 am - 1 pm, doing fruit cutting.

Good Morning, Claudie ♬ That is good your area is getting some summertime rain! Your Mom is so busy this week with being scheduled out with her ALF. Wishing you and your Mom a good shopping trip to her favorite WM store!

Thank you for your wishes for my hard work on the job searches efforts. I heard from many others doing job searches that it takes them months before finding and landing any job. But once I find one, it will be worth all of the effort and hard work. Yes, such is the recession, and the weak job market in our area. Yes, I am definitely looking for jobs unrelated to Real Estate. I need the better quality of life and balance that a salaried and non-commissioned job will offer. I did previously work as a Realtor, and due to the constant need to make money, I was unable to take any long non-work related vacations away from work. So out goes the quality of life and balance with commission only work.

This morning my Mom and I will visit Russell at the Convalescent Hospital that his Mother is a Resident at, as Russell will spend his last moments on vacation with his Mother over here before heading to the Airport to return back to his home in Louisiana. After that, I look forward to another full day of doing job searches, tasks, and errands as needed.

Have a Beautiful Tuesday!

Good morning Claudie,

Got to working on the partially done stump yesterday. cut some more, and the saw still acted dull. After cutting off another piece, I found that the bottom of that tree had "incorporated" a small stone inside it! I sawed through the middle of that stone. No wonder it acted dull! Now I might need a new chain. That is not all. It ran out of gas, so I fueled it up, and noted that there was a small but growing puddle of gas under it. Yup, the seam in the fuel tank has sprung a leak. Had to dump the fuel out. Now I need to take it apart again and get a real gasket for it. Looks like the last stump is now further down on my "to do" list. Like below repair chain saw! At least gasket material is not expensive. Going to find some and make my own. That is not hard. Apparently the RTV just did not have what it took. Might just buy that new chain too. Will depend on what I can do with the existing one once I have it in the basement. I can take it off the saw and really examine it to see if it can be sharpened.
Did get the lawn mowed, and used the string trimmer to edge everything. Finally used the blower to clean up the walks and such. That all loos good. Saw a few new weeds while mowing so the Ortho Weed-B-Gon came out and they have been sprayed. You have to keep up with knocking out the weeds or they slowly take over. Finally got into the veggie garden and used the long handle cultivator to dig up the few persistent weeds, and disrupt the new ones that are trying to grow. I then used the watering pot and applied some water with Miracle-Gro liquid fertilizer in it. I am going to have to do something with the four cherry tomato plants as they have side shoots that are spreading out too far. Thinking of tying them up to the cages, and trimming the ends off so no more tomatoes try to grow on them. I will have an overload of cherry tomatoes as it is! The other plants are looking really good. I counted over 20 tomatoes on the Big Boy plants alone. They are far from ready, but growing nicely. Have many small peppers growing, and one that is almost ready to pick. Quite happy with the garden this year.

I also looked at that packet of ancestry tree stuff from my daughters almost MIL. It is all in disorder inside. I was able to skim through it enough to see a general scheme of things, and think I can take the 100 or so pages and put them back into some semblance of order. I was able to find the needed pages to find her and her parents. Once I had that in Ancestry, I could then start to get hints. There are two trees in Ancestry that seem to have a lot of the info I am looking at. One has a series of "private" at its bottom that corresponds to her family. I am thinking of contacting that tree owner and inquiring as to how they are related. If they are close I can scan the pile of documents and email them a copy. It contains details on the older generations that they do not seem to have and would most likely find invaluable. Daughters almost MIL is one of a family of five. Her mother is from a family of eleven! Those ones were all born locally. That means there should be lots of first and second cousins around, and I am probably seeing a tree from one of them. If I can get it properly organized and into Ancestry, I can supposedly break out a section of the tree. If I can do that I can give them a copy if that tree and some software to view it with. It is so much easier to see on the PC than on paper!

Good morning, Dino, MidnightSun, jqwright, JM, hmcsretired07, scout TUrtLE, and grmoore!

Dino, so was it a Manic Monday?

MidnightSun, hmmmm, ocular migraine; that's a new one for me. I watched the video. Does this go away after a while? Another doctor appointment today? Whew! Hope the specialist can give you some good info to help you lower your glucose.

JM, hope you don't have to go back to the bus station any time soon.

scout, it's always rough to go back to work after a great vacation.

TUrtLE, LOL! Aaaahhh! Blonde jokes! Love 'em!

grmoore, yay! No more wild cats, and, hopefully, no more wild babies! As for rain, we only got some close to midnight last night. I checked the rain gauge and we got another 3-tenths-of-an-inch. Not too bad. :)

jqwright and hmcsretired, thanks for stopping in!

This is a busy going-out week for Mom (and the other residents of the ALF)...yesterday they went to a dollar store, today I'm taking her to WM, Thursday they're going to a minor league baseball game and Friday they're going out to eat at a country-style eating place. PLUS it's possible that my brother will be visiting her this weekend, and he usually takes her out to eat lunch somewhere also. And that doesn't even include any activities AT the ALF! Whew! She's going to need a rest! :)

Good morning Claudie and Friends,

Continuing:

During late spring one year, a blonde was trying out her new boat. She was unable to have her boat perform, travel through water, or do any maneuvers whatsoever no matter how hard she tried.

After trying for over three days to make it work properly, she decided to seek help. She putted the boat over to the local marina in hopes that someone there could identify her problem.

Workers determined that everything from the engine to the outdrive was working perfectly on the topside of the boat. So, a puzzled marina employee jumped into the water to check underneath the boat for problems. Because he was laughing so hard, he came up choking on water and gasping for air. Under the boat, still strapped in place securely, was the trailer.

Enjoy a Terrific Tuesday!

Good morning Claudie!

Yes, found the reason as explained below.

The low was 50° (15°C). The windows were open all night with the house cooling off to a lovely 66° by 8 AM. Spent 90 minutes doing the laundry. Had a 6 inch white egg and bacon w/jack cheese and a 12oz coffee for $3.27 inc tax while in Littleton.

Stopped at Olympic Sports to exchange a printed t-shirt of the reigning World Series champs. Seems the thread in the right underarm was not fully stitched. No problem to exchange it for another.

Headed to the Physician Offices at the Littleton Regional Hospital for my 10:30 appointment. This new and modern hospital with the latest healthcare equipment greatly expanded on the east side and had to have a road relocated 1,000 ft from its original location.

Went to the Eye care unit. It looks fabulous w/a waterfall in the lobby that was 24' tall. Five tiers the water falls. Plants surround the base of the 14' pond. A fantastic indoor display.

Lots of beautiful photography framed 16"x 24" on the walls. Love the North Country hospitality. Everyone smiles and introduces themselves by their first names.

Arrived before time and filled out the typical 3 page form, which is routine and expected. Waited all of 5 minutes before a female tech called me inside the exam room.

Lots of Q's were asked by the tech and by me. All the wonderful eye tests were performed. Then the dilation drops were inserted. Can tell this tech is well qualified. She pulls down the skin beneath the eye. the drops were aimed and a bullseye was accurate.

After the drops took effect the good OD (eye doc) came in smiling, shook my hand and introduced himself, also by his first name. He tested for glaucoma, then tested retina pressure and inside the retina w/amanifying glass and strong lighting.

He said my retina is perfect and has no signs of any problems in the future. No glaucoma either. Said my vision has superimposed jagged bright spots know as ocular migraine. (A quick 49 sec video of it starting and it seen at the max)

Asked while here about and eye vision exam. He said it would be a false reading w/my retinas being dilated. The desk gave me an appointment in three weeks.

Also given to me was a Rollens wrap around sun glasses. With my retinas dilated to the max, the bright sun was intolerable. This simple device filters out the UV rays superbly. Sat in the sun reading for an hour.

Returned home to water the gardens, the new lawn repairs, and the new germinating wildflowers. All is growing exceptionally well. A fantastic sight and a super happy feeling.

Civil twilight is 4:47 AM EDT. Night is 8:56 PM.

Sunrise: 5:22 AM. Set: 8:22 PM.

Length of day: 15h 0m. Length of visible light: 16h 09m. Tomorrow will be 2m 0s shorter.

The temp is 56° (13°C) with the high to be 86° (30°C). Two more sunny days ahead.

An appointment w/a diabetic specialist at Weeks Memorial Hospital on dieting to lower glucose levels is at 11AM.

Have a wonderful day!

              : )

Good evening/morning Claudie

Seemed appropriate this evening on the way to work, bouncing from radio station to radio station when I found one playing "Manic Monday" from the Bangles. I hope it's not a sign.

Enjoying some blueberries and getting ready to start another night. One of my favorite parts of summer. The many various berries available.

Another death in the Wood County school system happened over the weekend. This time it was Tom Eschbacher (pronounced "Esh Bocker") the principal at Parkersburg South high school. He would die of brain cancer at age 51.

Heading to Parkersburg on Wednesday. Emily has a double header at the Elite Center. These will be her last two games in the summer league there. Time to get the night jump started. Take care.

Good evening, yankie, kathybye, HappyHiker, and Robustus!

yankie, thanks for stopping in!

kathybye, glad to hear your BP was good; hope the new meds work well for you, esp. in the Fall allergy season.

HappyHiker, our weather is returning to the 'normal' summertime pattern, too. Aaahhh, those cooler temps were so nice for that short time!

Robustus, I agree, you need to feel comfortable about taking your mom out somewhere, and from what you're saying, you don't, which is alright. It just might be time to let your mom know that. Over the next 3 days, try to get some of those things your mom wants and take them to her. That should make her feel better. As for your work hours, hope that picks up soon.

Time for me to sign out for the night.

Good night, Buddies!

Hi Claudie!

We had a nice little thundershower last night. Saw a little cell from the south of us coming up on the radar around 10 last night. It provided some nice heavy rainfall and loud rumblings of thunder. It probably lasted about 45 minutes. But, it was good to get the much needed rain!

Anyway, as for my mom goes. I always check with the nurse on duty to make sure it is OK with them to take my mom out. In the past, I've had one say one thing and another say something else. So far, it is OK with them if I sign her out. But, from the two nurses I spoke to recently about this, they bring up the issue of being comfortable in helping her. That means by getting in her in and out of the car and into her wheelchair or any other place we're going. Right now, I'm not comfortable in trying to get my mom up on her feet. It looks like she's so weak on her left side that she is not steady enough to stand. I'm afraid that she could easily fall and hurt herself and I'm the only one around to help get her up. In the past, she could stand up and lean on something or have me hold her hand to take a few steps to get in her wheelchair or inside a restaurant to sit. But, now she's gotten considerably weaker to do that. I might try again to see if I can get her out of her bed into wheelchair when I visit her next. If that goes well, then we're go from there.

Anyway, as for any therapy. She told me she had some kind of physical therapy recently. But, they only do as much as they seem that they are capable in doing things on their own. Once they feel that they're strong enough to do the basic things, then that's it. So, when she got in there this time, they evaluated her seeing that she could get up and go to the bathroom without any help. But, now it looks like she needs help with that since he had that "mini stroke" last month. Now they give her one of those adult diapers to use and then maybe get her up when they change her. That's another thing that prevents me right now from taking her out. Before, I was able to get help from someone else or an employee to help her use the restroom. She was able to get in the stall but like I said I don't think she's strong enough to do that anymore. Her left leg is much weaker now.

OK, I'm pretty much rambling on here. Not much new to talk about today.

I hate to leave with some more bad news. They have drastically cut hours once again at work. Originally was scheduled 10-4 today, but some reason the manager changed it to have me get off at 3 instead. Also, as of now I will only get 17 hours this week. Remember I was getting 24 for quite a while. I see we have slowed down a little due to the summer season. We assume a lot of people aren't shopping as much due to being on vacation. I hope it picks up again soon or I hear something from Sheetz (that company I went to that job fair last month.)

Hi Claudie, what I wouldn't give for a little bit of rain. Our temps are climbing back up again, 89 today and back in the 90's tomorrow. Today is a quiet day, a nice walk and then lots of little errands to take and calls to make. It's nice for a change, and since I'm still not back working out at the gym I have extra time. Have a good evening.

Hi, Claudie:
Interesting day at the new allergist. Completed paperwork ahead of time. Since I mentioned "coughing", he completed peak flow meter. Wow! I had no idea my breath support was that compromised. Did a breathing treatment (My son did these when small).

Repeated allergy skin test. Good news is allergy shots are working, but a little disappointed, he diagnosed mild asthma & allergic rhinitis. I am on new meds (nasal spray, daily inhaler, and inhaler prior to exercise or as needed on some days when pollen count/pollution is high.

I will begin biweekly allergy shots w/new serum for 3 months, as this will help w/Fall around the corner, which is my worst allergy season.

My blood pressure was perfect, the best ever!

Good afternoon, Farful, dickc49, MusicTeacher, Bus Jockey, Scanman, attitash, and jjdm!

Farful, thankfully the yard guy comes next Monday; it would probably still be too wet to mow today, seeing that we got over 2" of rain this past weekend. Hope your bloodwork numbers turn out good.

dick, hope you're able to get that outside work done today; just knowing that the cooler weather will be gone (for the time being) should help you get going! Then when that's all done, and the weather gets back to being hot and humid, you'll have a good excuse to stay inside where it's cooler (and work on Ancestry)!

MusicTeacher, are you looking for jobs now that are out of real estate?

Bus Jockey, thanks for stopping in!

Scanman, by reservoir, I am assuming you mean Lake Lanier, the lake that got over 20+ feet below full when we were in our worst drought years. I checked, and the lake is practically full; maybe a coupla inches down.

attitash, no sun here today. Clouds, clouds, and more clouds also making it sooooo humid! :(

jjdm, glad to hear your mom will get her scheduled 12 hours this week. Maybe all it took was her talking to the produce manager to let him know she really wanted/needed to work. :)

Good Morning, Claudie ♩ That is good your area got some much needed rain! Thank you for sharing an interesting historical fact 45 years ago yesterday. I was not born then, but I have seen the ol* videos of Neil Armstrong doing that historic first step on the moon!

Have a great morning of errands, including your Nail Salon visit and other places!

Thank you for your kind wishes as I work hard and try to find ways to improve my current lack of enough work situation. This recession is the worst it has ever been for me since after I graduated from College.

Today I look forward to a full day of resuming my normal routines again with the Job Searches, and taking care of tasks and errands as needed. Tonight I have one Violin Student to teach.

Have a Beautiful Monday!

Good morning Claudie,

Was at the birthday party until 8PM. Stayed until it was just family. Kids were tired, but had a ball. The little guy has all sorts of new toys to play with. Now Mom & Dad have to figure out where to put them all. <He-He>

Today is our last day of reasonably cool and dry weather. The temps and dew points both go up tomorrow. I need to get that lawn done today. I will also see if I can get more done on the stumps. The saw uses a 16-1 mix, and the weed whacker uses 32-1. I don't want to keep two different 2 cycle fuels around. I can take the saw gas and dilute it slightly for the weed whacker. Impetus to finish!

I also got handed a big envelope from my soon to be son-in-laws mother. She has her family tree information from the late 1970's, all on paper. First job is to run it through my scanner and make a digital copy. Then look it over and start adding her family info in going up by a generation at a time. Will see what info Ancestry offers to help with and when. That will keep me busy for a few days! That and I still have people I can add to my wife's side to get it all out to the tenth GGP level. Still have many family tree hints to dig through. Have seen one document that shows one part of my wife's family comes from royalty. Will be interested to see how far back some of these line go. One with royalty should be well defined.

Good morning Claudie and All!

Claudie, Glad that you are getting some rain. Hope that your yard guy is able to finish his work later.

Watched Neil Armstrong on the moon the first time and saw the 45th anniversary last night. Sure does not seem that long. Good friend still believes that it was a Hollywood production.

Routine lab appointment today. Dr. said that he will call me when he has the results. I have seen him earlier this year so will not require an additional appointment if numbers are good.

Have a musical Monday!

A good trip out this morning, beginning with me getting some happy feet! :)

Hiya, sandipaws!

You have a pond on your property? Cool!

Too bad you couldn't get a picture of that turtle, though. They sure can move fast when they want to.

Hello Claudie!

Enjoy your morning errands -- hope it all goes well and that the rain holds off.

Saw a rather large turtle in my pond yesterday but when I tried to get a photo, it saw me and decided to go for a swim.

Have a marvelous Monday! {{Hugs}}

Good morning, Robustus, TC, kathybye, ohyeah, MidnightSun, Dino, JM, hmcsretired07, scout, grmoore, Ratso, TUrtLE, and senile!

Robustus, I know your mom wants to get out, but before you do that, maybe talk to the staff and see what they think. As for getting her some stuff from the store, I know she'll be happy with that. As for your dad, how 'bout going over to visit him and NOT take him any food? If he says anything about that, just say you didn't bring any and that's THAT!

kathybye, that's nice to at least see some of your hubby's relatives; too bad the others don't come, too (the ones on the east coast).

MidnightSun, hope you can find out what's causing the problem with your eye.

Dino, I heard about James Garner, though, I never really watched any of the shows/movies he was in.

JM, yikes! The bus station is near the jail? You're right; NOT a great area at all!

scout, yup! Sadly vacation time always comes to an end. :(

grmoore, that's a great Mellow Mushroom. I've been there a coupla times with Mom (her ALF is located right before the country club), and the ALF has taken the residents there a coupla times, too.

Ratso, welcome to Claudie's Place! Come back and visit again (and get to know us) when you can!

TUrtLE, blonde jokes? Oh, yeah! :)

TC, ohyeah, hmcsretired, and senile, thanks for stopping in!

Well, I'm going back out and about today! Looks like any rain is supposed to be for this afternoon, so I should stay dry. I've got an appointment at the nail salon and then a coupla places to stop on the way home. It should be an good morning out. :)

Good Morning Claudie and Friends,
The caption reads, "Blue Heron waiting for breakfast to swim by…"
Photo taken by Ken Gagne.

Blonde jokes this week.
I chose ones that I haven't heard.

Two blondes had driven across the country to see Disney World in Florida.

As they approached it and got onto the final stretch of highway, they saw a sign saying "Disney World Left!"

After thinking for a minute, the driver blonde said "Oh well!" and started driving back home.

Happy Monday!

Greetings Claudie/friends:

Happy Monday! 73 degrees this morning.

It's Monday again and back to work. My wife has an appointment this morning so it's a solo drive outside of the carpool.

re: Mellow Mushroom location - yep, that's the one!

Final orchestra sub service went well yesterday morning.

Off to breakfast and work.

Have a great day all!

Good morning, Claudie. The bus station is not in a great place in downtown, it is near the city jail. It would be nicer if they would move the greyhound station to the airport area.

Good morning Claudie

Back after a weekend off of doing not much. Rain cancelled my plans to mow on Saturday. Got it done Sunday afternoon and the yard looks much better now. As you may know by now, we lost another great actor in James Garner. He was known for several movies and TV shows. However, I grew up in the '70s and I remember him as Jim Rockford. Never watched the show, but my parents did and the theme was what stood out to me. He will be missed

TV Theme from "The Rockford Files"

The heat returns to the area this week. After daytime temps in the 70s last week, we should be pushing 90 most of this week. Time to jump start the week. If it sounds weak, don't worry. It's just the lawn mower.

Good morning Claudie!

My have the time to stop by the clinic to ask the nurse to mail me the results. In person always gets better results.

Finished my Starcraft: Brood War battles early yesterday morning taking turns being a member of the terran, zerg, and protoss races. Lots of joy playing land, air and deep space battles.

Went out mid morning to look at the straw and blue berries. All is well. Plants wildflowers, and the repairs to the lawn are going very well. The new grass is 2" tall. Decided to remove its newsprint and water w/fertilizer.

Worked prying out the humongous rip rap in the now 2' x 6' hole. Using boulders for a basic lever & fulcrum. This riprap must be very deep, very heavy and very huge.

Could not even move it after 1 hour of solid effort. A new plan is to dug under it and have it collapse at least 3 inches below the lawn grade. Then plant the annuals bought for this area the beginning of July.

Dug up the roots and rocks in the final remaining section that contains the newly planted wildflower seeds. Added a new 4' x 5' extension w/a fine looking radius corner.

Have a mere 2' x 4' area to plant the remaining wildflowers. All is growing well. Harvested some strawberries and enough blueberries for a pleasing snack. Temp rose to 84° (29°C) for the high in clear skies.

Am listening to the K.C. Royal challenge the home team on the net. Home team leads it. Will return outdoors after this post to listen to the game and improve my tan.

Civil twilight is 4:46 AM EDT. Night is 8:58 PM.

Sunrise: 5:21 AM. Set: 8:23 PM.

Length of day: 15h 02m. Length of visible light: 16h 11m. Tomorrow will be 1m 56s shorter.

The temp is 52° (11°C) with the high to be 82° (28°C). Three more sunny days ahead.

Looks like a fine morning to get my laundry done. Have an eye exam scheduled for 10:30 at the Littleton Regional Hospital.

Have a wonderful day!
