CA, OR, WA motorists see big hikes as national average falls

GasBuddy Blog -- We mentioned it was coming a few days ago. Hundreds of you shared the story that we wrote, "West Coast Motorists: Prepare to get clobbered", and clobbered is what you're getting. In an update to that story, so far in the last week, prices have risen sharply. If you're not on the West Coast, skip down to the last paragraph to see what we expect outside this region.

Prices across California are seeing an average increase of 14-cents per gallon in the last week alone, with some cities seeing much bigger increases. Here are some of the increases compared to last Monday:
Santa Barbara, up 17c/gal
San Jose, up 14c/gal
San Fran, up 12c/gal
San Diego, up 13c/gal
Sacramento, up 13c/gal
Orange County, up 17c/gal...

Big deal. Every week we see gas inch down a few cents and then get a spike of $0.09 to $0.17 per gallon on a single day. It's a racket, and the American public is being held hostage. Get some doggone controls in place and get this thing back to a reasonable, common-sense level.

Pretty much all fuel must be imported into CA. This is due to the gov red tape for refineries.

The prices of fuels here are slowing this part of the country down. That seventeen cents in two days is hard to handle. Just to think it is because somebody is worried about the supply. I have yet to see a station with a sign saying that they are out of fuel, or we will only sell you 10 gallons. Is the shortage real or just a way to drum up the prices.

There may be supply blips on the Left Coast, but the bigger problem is overly restrictive state regulations that limit supply and keep prices high.

They find any "excuse" to raise gas prices, but need a handful to lower them.

Here in South Bend Indiana, yesterday, reg unleaded was 3.52 a gallon, this morning, 3.89 a gallon, and oil went down 1.39 a barrel. Talk about gouging, and who will do anything about. Simply profit taking.. pure and simple.. as though the damned thieves don't get enough profit.
