Nukes are not green! Plutonium is forever! Not many know that the entire plant becomes various levels of nuclear waste at the end of life. We only need one nuclear plant and we have had that one since the beginning. All that needs to be done is to harness it properly. BTW Dire Straights is one of my all-time favorites. Sultans of Swing is no doubt one of the great albums. All of the tracks on that album are great. It is great road music though I always drive about 10 mph faster when it is playing!

I have a Brother-in-law that has spent the last 15 years helping to clean up the Hanford reservation in WA state from all of the radioactive wastes that were dumped there starting in the early days of WWII through the sixties. Parts of this place won't be really safe for a very long time and generations of engineers will work on this. Fukushima will be like this the cleanup will outlive our grandchildren. Yeah nukes are safe alright until you have another major accident. Broken windmills and solar panels are much easier to clean up than a Fukushima or a Chernobyl or a Three Mile Island. By the way some statisticians claim there is almost a certainty of a major nuclear power plant accident every 30-35 years.

JS - Even members of Greenpeace are now admitting the 'greenness' of Nuclear. And I agree - over-all!

I am not sure when the read or the bill comes but it will be in the next few days likely Sat. or Mon or maybe Tuesday. We are off at least 200 KW-hrs from last year but I think we are positive froe FEB2014-FEB2015. The bill will tell. So you are sold on the induction stove top? I wonder how rugged these units are and what sort of life expectancy and what it cost to replace or repair one of these "burners" for lack of proper term. I see the apple of your eye too!

Those Nuke's can handle the twister's Joe. Even if they do go into a sleep mode during a storm, the recovery is ZERO - compared to bringing cranes into a field of busted wind-mills. Solar Pieces all over the Prarie- what a mess. No power for MONTHS!
