EIA data shows massive build in gasoline, distillate inventories

GasBuddy Blog -- The Energy Information Administration released its weekly report on the status of petroleum inventories in the United States today.

Here are some highlights:

CRUDE INVENTORIES:
Crude oil inventories increased by 1.3 million barrels to a total of 361.3 million barrels. At 361.3 million barrels, inventories are 26.6 million barrels above last year (8%) and are above the upper limit of the average range.

GASOLINE INVENTORIES:
Gasoline inventories increased by 7.4 million barrels to 233.1 million barrels. At 233.1 million barrels, inventories are up 9.3 million barrels, or 4.1% higher than last year. Here's how individual regions and their gasoline inventory fared last week: East Coast (+0.9mb); Midwest...

But, here in California, the lowest prices at the pump are nudging upwards while the highs are slowly coming down, making the average relatively stable, for now, with slight rises and dips in the overall daily average. So, an increase in supply only keeps the average stable, at best?

The laws of supply and demand indicate that fuel costs should go down. But we all know they won't (if anything, they'll go up!)

prices went up 20 cents here yesterday. of course gas inventories have increased, people are out of work and with the limited income they have they can buy gas or heat their home.

This is direct price gouging and supply manipulation by Big Oil.
