The average daily consumption of petroleum products in 2012 was nearly 18.7 million barrels per day, the lowest since 1997, when average consumption was 18.54 million barrels per day, and well off the average daily consumption of 20.9 million barrels in 2007.

Would this be strictly because cars are getting better gas mileage, or are people driving less because of the price of gas, economy, no job, etc, etc..

Amazing how much less fuel America's permanently unemployed no longer uses when they no longer have a job to go to.

We are in a new norm. Until the Federal Reserve withdraws the printed money expect prices to hover where they are at now. It takes more dollars to but a barrel of oil; hence the higher prices. Do not expect the fed to change for another 18 months minimum. So get used to it.

WTF are we sending refined product overseas for? Hey, I thought this kind of crap was going to go away when Bush and Cheney and their oil cronies left office. Say it isn't so!
