8 reasons why gas will hit $5 a gallon this year

MSNBC -- The price of gas is a widely covered news item these days. Oil prices have moved up from $75 a barrel in October of last year to more than $100 a barrel currently. And the trend continues to point toward even higher oil prices. Of course, along with the price of oil, gas prices have also risen, almost in lockstep.

The price of gasoline today is 10 percent higher than it was just two months ago. The average price for a gallon of regular is almost $3.62. Gas prices in January have been the highest ever recorded price for that month. Many economists and energy analysts believe a rise to $4 a gallon is inevitable. But their estimates could be grossly understated. Gas will reach $5 a gallon before the end of the year.

The good news - you'll be able to stick a fork in Obozo's re-election chances. I wouldn't mind paying $5 for a while to see him gone.

So Barack Obama can push his failed "Alternative Energy and Lifestyle" modes of transportation. OK do the math. The average OTR train diesel/electric engine holds 5000 Gallons of fuel in its tank. I'm sure railroads may get a "Bulk" rate on diesel, but if they don't 5000 Gallons @ $4.36 a gallon= $21,800.00 to fill one engine. It is true they are very efficient, but they are the very same efficiency at $2.35 a Gallon as $4.36 a gallon. It just costs more to make the delivery. The past two days I had a delivery in a company truck from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. about 371 miles one way. I used $225.00 of fuel just to make that one delivery round trip.
