CR names Toyota Prius As Best New Car Value? Maybe the Toyota Prius is the best new car value but EV's and Plug In Inbreds have a very long way to go before they will be the 'Norm.' My vehicle was paid for many years ago and I will drive my current vehicle into the ground before buying anything new, used, EV, Inbred, diesel, hydrogen, alternative fuel, CNG, concept and certainly NOT a Fiat, Prius, Tesla, Leaf, Volt or an NYC/ Hurricane Sandy Special 'exploding submarine' Fiskar Karma Inbred! Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, vehicle manufactures Produce and the population ‘Drives’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! XII/XXII/MMXII! - The Day After......

My Avalon is a greatcar. No problems, no breakdowns, just a good ride. I've had it for 11 years without any problem.. I do however keep up with maintenance.

CR is a biased magazine toward Japanese made products, I wonder where they get their kick backs from. I quit buying the magazine years ago because they favor foreign made products and I would not believe anything that they recommend.

Funny, in the National Highway Safety Tests, Prius V came in dead last for a 40 mph crash. Or perhaps I should say, YOU will come in dead, last, if you're in one then.

At the end of the day, do you really care about the price of gasoline or do you care about how much it costs you to drive to your destination, @pa79th?
Cars with great fuel economy always cost less to operate than those with poor economy, no matter what's the price of gas.

The Prius is plenty big for four people, @Chris46. I'm 6'3" and I've ridden in the back, no problem.
People who drive big SUVs get used to driving around in their living rooms.

I tell you, @AC-302, when CR says that Chryslers are crap, I believe them.
And as for a bias against U.S. automakers, they also bash European models when it's warranted. They report that Mercedes reliability has been slipping as well.
Now, if you have any evidence to bring, we're willing to listen but if you just want to spout your opinion with nothing to back it up, don't be shocked if nobody believes you.
