If GM starts to make better cars, then they won't need a 60 guarantee.

I say it's just like insurance. You pay an extra $500 because you can't get the rebate for the right to return a vehicle after 60 days. That's pretty expensive insurance in my opinion.

Agreed, just a spin on increasing sales like "employee pricing". The limitations of the return policy make it hard for one to qualify without abandoning their GM vehicle in their garage until the vehicle is returned. Real use of the vehicle when trying to return it may disqualify the ability to return it.

Success of GM's promotion from Motor Trend's website on November 19, 2009
"Reuss said Thursday that "653 out of 222,000 vehicles sold (since the program began in September) opted for the coverage" instead of cash. Under the program, buyers can choose from a 60-day money back guarantee, in which they can return their new GM car or truck for any reason. The vast majority of customers chose incentives instead, the alternative option to the guarantee. "
Of those 653 who chose the money-back guarantee, 53 vehicles have been returned and 140 more are in the process for being returned, Reuss said, "and we're calling all of them."
The success rate looks even better, Reuss suggested, when you consider that no more than 20 of those 193 customers returning vehicles plan to buy a non-GM competitor in the GM model's place. If you buy a new Chevy betting on the 60 day guarantee you had better read the fine print. If something sounds to good to be true is usually is.

Well I was going to buy one AWD for the 2 worst Months of the Winter - then read the fine print. Sales tax is not refundable and here it is 13% so that is a dis-incentive.

"Disgruntled customers are apparently given exit interviews by one of the company's engineering staff, to find out why the customer wasn't satisfied. GM leaders call it the "best unfiltered feedback" they can get"
Seems they could also have sent out surveys to customers after 60 or 90 days to see how they like their purchase.

This is a good program that gives the car buyer extra protection that other car makers do not offer. Even with the conditions for the return of the car the buyer has an out. Name another car maker that offers this protection. It is true that you cant wreck the car and then give it back or rack up tens of thousands of miles and return the car.

This promotion is nothing more than a gimmick -- GM is well aware that most people will not return their vehicles after 60 days!

They have to many strings attached to this program. Of course, I am also not a loyal GM buyer either.

i'm sure most the people buying gm vehicles under this program were already gm customers. a vehicle is a major purchase and not something most people just do on a whim.
it's not like buying a dvd player and then deciding you want blu ray instead.

Interesting tactic. Suggests confidence in their products. I wonder what the return rate has been.

About time they stood behind their vehicles.....if they stood out front they would get ran over by them. I love the spin of no body returns their vehicle they only trade because they bought the wrong vehicle. Most people go after the cash back option which negates the 60 day return policy.

What would make a person drive a car and then decide they don't like it. What about the long term. Drive it for three years and see how often it breaks down, then I could give you an accurate assessment that I don't like the car.

Oh, does that include their new car, is it the volt that gets the 200 plus mpg?

Hope it helps them and that the customers are satisfied. If not their cars are worth less when they have been used for 60 days.

Any new car will perform great in the first 60 days. This "return policy" would under no circumstances sway me to buy a GM product.

Have to agree with Bussman...in a recent poll it has been found that if the company received a bailout there was a 50% less chance that a customer would buy a vehicle from them.
