The study that I posted found that media coverage on fracking is mostly negative with negative stories outweighing neutral and positive stories by over 60 percent across local and national TV and newspapers, online newspapers and national radio.
In the media reports, less than half of all media referenced scientific studies, with only 25 percent of broadcast news mentioning them.
The emotional play of blogs, images and, most importantly to fracking, fakeumentaries with staged scenes of tap water on fire are the epitemy of a witch hunt. UT STUDY

A feel good piece about a very questionable practice. I don't buy it.

So, I read this op-ed piece from "Dr. Barry Stevens" and have to say it did nothing to help me believe that the concerns about hydraulic fracturing are unfounded. More than anything, I question the author's credentials. Who is he and what is he a "Dr." of? Stevens couldn't even spell "hypocrisy" correctly. Anybody can post their opinion on the 'net. But, I don't buy into the notion this article is peer-reviewed or a serious study on the subject.
Some of the posters in the forum have tried to berate environment conservation, alternative energy and PBS into this discussion. Pardon the pun, but, why are you trying to muddy the water on the topic? They have nothing to do with whether there is or isn't a bias on the hydraulic fracturing process.
I don't claim to be a geologist or chemist. But, when I see earthquakes happening in places that don't normally have seismic activity, and well water that is polluted with chemicals that aren't normally present, it makes me want to know why. Shouldn't you wonder, too?

Say NO to fracking and injected subsurface waste water, protect the ground and surface waters at all cost. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012!

Regulators should do the old adage, "trust, but verify". Plenty of verification will send the message to do it right the first time or be very sorry in the end.

We know only a few are causing problems the rest is political propaganda to force the USA to use "GREEN Energy" Some of which is just as bad or worse.

This looks a lot like an opinion column by an oil-industry mouthpiece to me, not a balanced news article presenting both sides of the story. Not appropriate for Newsville. The title is your first clue.

I don't think residents of Dimock, PA would call it a witch hunt. Cabot and EPA say drink the cloudy water.

Just like each person is different so are fracking situations. In Ohio there have been minor earthquakes. In Pennsylvania there has been water contamination. In Colorado water is bid on and fracking won over ranchers/ farmers. In Texas there hasn't been a problem. The industry isn't completely guilt free.
