Give thanks – gasoline prices continue downward

Central Valley Business Times -- Slowly but steadily, gas prices dropped by another small amount over the past week throughout California, although prices remain about 60 cents per gallon higher than one year ago, according to price surveys Friday.

“At the moment, the biggest factor driving prices downward seems to be the seasonal dip in demand,” says Jeffrey Spring, a spokesman for the Automobile Club of Southern California. “Prices traditionally drop this time of year along with temperatures, which will be a little help for Thanksgiving travelers’ budgets.”

California’s statewide average price for a gallon of self-ser4ve regular on Nov. 20 is $2.943, third highest in the nation, surpassed only by Alaska and Hawaii.

One year ago, regular unleaded: 1.95, today 2.67. Hmmm... that's also higher than last week's 2.63 and last month's 2.60... give thanks? For what? That the so-called writer is getting paid for scribbling garbage down?

It's a shame! We're using less fuel than two years ago, a year ago and even nine months ago, yet we're still paying more. It's not speculators really, just the greedy among the wealthy, the refiners, big oil and OPEC keeping the prices up. The prices need to come down again for us to have a break. Oh, but wait, that's right, none of them nor the leaders of the world, nor the wealthy in-general, nor the bankers want us to have a break. Not even your local or state politicians. If they did, they'd all take salary reductions themselves. After all, they get enough perks on top of their salaries. Dump them all!

By the way, DJRIO, good move on the fuel efficient car and conserving; that's all part of the new boycott which is still ongoing. So, if you people want to make a difference in your own lives and the lives of others, follow suit! Hopefully, the price of oil and gas will come down, below $65 a barrel and below $2.39 a gallon respectively, even if only for a few months, before they really jack the prices up there past $90 a barrel again. We all need that break.

Enjoy it while it lasts because with the next global crisis, to wit: War in the Middle East involving Iran and (fill in the blank), here comes the vicious price hikes.

Give thanks? It's nice of them to omit the fact that gas prices climbed several dimes prior to this recent modest decline.

This article is irrelevant in my neck of the woods. I've reported the same gasoline prices for my favorite stations for about 2 weeks; no change at all.

Guess they aren't looking where I live... between $2.95-$3.09 for regular... means somewhere else pumping gasoline at $2.79-2.89... wish I were there!

Up a penny in some stations here after holding stable for a week or 2.
$2.70 low to $2.95 for reg w/ 10% E.
One station claims to have Non Ethanol and is selling Reg for $3.16.

I guess a penny or two drop in the price of gas is a big deal in CA. Prices here in GA are rising again.
